Under One Roof is a documentary film-in-the-making that gives voice to complex relationships of a bygone era.  North of the Mason-Dixon line, cities and suburbs harbor the stories of black housekeepers, many of whom came North in the Great Migration, their white employers, and the families of both.  They are stories about relationships, race, and class set amidst the racial and social turbulence that defined the mid 1950’s through the early 1970’s - powerful stories about hard work, boundaries, power, emotional investment, authority, respect, tension, raising children, friendship, expectations, and often -- unconditional love.
